Aigles Bleues hang on to edge Varsity Reds

MONCTON, N.B. (from UNB Varsity Reds) – The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues scored a 3-2 AUS women’s volleyball victory over the UNB Varsity Reds on Saturday afternoon in Moncton.

The Aigles Bleues won by scores of 25-21, 27-25, 20-25, 24-26 and 15-12.

Christelle Bertin (Beresford, NB) was named Subway Player of the Game after recording 13 kills and 19 digs for Moncton.

The Varsity Reds had four players with double-figure kills, including Melika Belliveau (Shediac, NB), who had 13. Megan Kuciak (Ottawa, ON) had a match-high 21 digs for UNB, while Paige Lehto (North Vancouver, BC) recorded 13.

With the win, Moncton improves to 5- 13, good for fifth place in the Atlantic University Sport standings. The Varsity Reds are sixth with an 0-18 record.

The Varsity Reds complete the regular season next weekend, hosting the Saint Mary’s Huskies in a two-match series, Saturday and Sunday.
