Chiefs score three unanswered goals to top Blazers

KAMLOOPS, B.C. (from Kamloops Blazers) – The Spokane Chiefs scored two second-period goals and added an empty-net goal to notch a 3-1 victory over the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday night at the Sandman Centre.

Brodi Stuart opened the scoring with his 13th goal of the season to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead after the first period.

Luke Toporowski and Riley Woods scored goals in the second period to give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead through two periods.

The Blazers had some great chances in the third period as Nick Chyzowski rang a shot off the post and 15-year-old Josh Pillar had a great debut with a few chances.

The Chiefs’ Ethan McIndoe scored an empty-net goal to finish it off at 3-1.

Dylan Ferguson stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss and Dawson Weatherill turned aside 21 of 22 shots while earning the victory.

The Blazers will hit the road for two games in Prince George this weekend on Friday and Saturday nights.
