LETHBRIDGE, Alta. (from Lethbridge Pronghorns) – Continuing to retool the roster, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s soccer team has signed two more players for the 2018 season and excited to announce the commitments of Parvir Khakh and Matt Monaghan.
Khakh, a teammate of previously announced new recruit Mahek Gill, joins the Pronghorns from the BC Soccer Premier League’s Fraser Valley Premier team based in Abbotsford, B.C. The 6-foot fullback is viewed as being a technically sound player with the ability to attack, overlap and provide play in the attacking third of the field.
“Parvir is a high-character player, who is determined to get better every day,” said Pronghorn head coach Randy Bardock. “As an added bonus, Parvir can also play anywhere in the midfield if needed; I am excited to start working with him.”
Monaghan, a 6-foot-1 midfielder, comes to Lethbridge via the highly successful Foothills Soccer Club in Calgary and is currently training with their U23 program. Monaghan, an attacking/holding midfielder is technically strong and will add to the Pronghorns’ midfield options.
“Matt is an incredible character that epitomizes our mantra of ‘developing excellent players and outstanding people’,” said Foothills technical director Tommy Wheeldon Jr. “He has an incredible work ethic and is a very good teammate as he is always willing to play multiple roles for the good of the team.”
“Honest, hardworking and humble, Matt is a credit to the Foothills program and will represent the University of Lethbridge very well.”
With the addition of Khakh and Monaghan, the Pronghorns 2018 recruiting class now sits at five. Local products David Musk and Danilo Morales were announced in December and Mahek Gill committed in January.
