U.S. Division-leading Silvertips top Rockets

KELOWNA, B.C. (from Kelowna Rockets) – The Kelowna Rockets fell 3-2 to the Everett Silvertips on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

After a scoreless first 19:49, Patrick Bajkov (24) scored on a Silvertips power play with 10.8 seconds remaining in the period and Everett held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Connor Dewar (28) scored on another Tips power play at 10:08 of the middle stanza to give Everett a two goal lead and they held that lead into the final frame.

At 8:32 of the third Bryce Kindopp (15) made it 3-0 Tips for their third power play marker of the evening, but with 11:00 to go Kyle Topping (18) broke the shutout and got Kelowna on the board. With 1:26 remaining Carsen Twarynski (33) drew the Rockets within one, but that would be it as the Tips held on for the 3-2 victory.

Brodan Salmond’s record falls to 6-6-0-1 after stopping 24 of 27 shots he faced. The Rockets outshot Everett 31-27.

Kelowna’s record is now 32-15-3-1. The U.S. Division-leading Silvertips are 33-17-1-2.

Kelowna and Everett are right back at it again at 7:05 p.m. PT Saturday in Everett, Wash..

The Rockets are back at home on Wednesday when they play host to their divisional rivals the Vancouver Giants.
