VICTORIA – The UVic Vikes women’s rugby team will try to keep their outstanding start to the season going when they play host to the UBC Thunderbirds on Sunday at Victoria’s Wallace Field.
The Vikes won the lone 15’s match that the two schools played last year when they picked up a 47-17 win over the T-Birds in Vancouver.
Six different players scored a try for UVic in that game as the Vikes overcame an early deficit to defeat their rivals from the Lower Mainland.
Last Time Out
To say that the Vikes got their 2017 Canada West schedule off to a strong start would be an understatement. UVic dominated from start to finish in an 82-0 season-opening win over the Alberta Pandas.
Ten different Vikes scored a try in the game as UVic put up their largest margin of victory in program history in the win.
The T-Birds played those very same Pandas two nights before and like UVic they were able to pick up a win in their first game of the season, defeating Alberta 29-19.
